Feel better about blogging – get a blogging buddy

OMG, Not the ‘B word’ I hear you say!

Yes, the B word!

I know you feel it is a nightmare. I know you question whether or not you have to do. And I certainly know you don’t want to blog, let alone say the B word.

You wonder what on earth you’ll blog about. You wonder who on earth will read it.

Quite frankly, it’s all too much to think about, let alone set into action.

As a small business owner you do really need to be blogging. And there are many reasons why, but I’ll save that for another blog post.

Let’s just say for now, you accept you need to blog. Now its time to get jiggy with it. It’s time to turn that blog frown upside down.

Here are 3 blogging tips for you:

Blogging buddies

TIP 1 – Get a blogging buddy

Today I am sitting with my blogging buddy, Heidi Armstrong. She is the Principal for the Complementary Therapy College in Bath. I support her with the college website and I co-create her practitioner site with her. Like my “other self” she is also a massage practitioner.

We have set aside the day to work on our blogs together.

By setting aside time together we:

  • guarantee that we have dedicated blogging time
  • write more than one blog post (see below about scheduling posts)
  • bounce ideas off each other
  • help each other to find better ways to say things
  • keep each other spurred on
  • feel like we are not alone in business
  • have more space to reflect about how we are doing, or how we can do it better
  • align to a more effective process each time we meet
  • …and much more

The long and the short of it is, today, blogging IS getting done! WOOOHOOOO!

If I’d planned to set aside time this week to write this blog post, I guarantee you I would not have done it. Something always comes up to take it’s place.

So, get yourself a blogging buddy to help each other stay on track.

TIP 2 – Write more than 1 blog and schedule them to get posted on chosen date

Practice makes perfect huh!

The more you blog, the easier it become.

The easier it becomes, the more you will enjoy it. The more benefit you will bring to your blog readers, current clients and potential clients.

Depending on your blogging software, you should be able to “schedule posts”. This means you can publish the post on any chosen date.

And if you are using good social media iteration, you can schedule tweets and Facebook posts too, to alert readers about your blog post.

You need to use social media to feed people to you site.

TIP 3 – Find inspiration

There are thousands of websites out there with blogging tips. Find them! Get inspired!

Maybe some 1-1 coaching can help you get the ball rolling?

I’m here for you should you feel that some 1-to-1 time would be the best place for you to start.

It’s always easer to be shown something that to figure it out yourself.

What works for you?
